Data Portability (Art 20 GDPR)

Data portability empowers individuals to receive personal data they provided to the controller and, where technically feasible, to request this personal data to be transmitted directly to another controller. To date, the comprehensive exercise of this right has not been made possible. While some of the big tech companies are working together to develop 'interoperable formats' for such data transfers, the fundamental elements that constitute the right are too vague. The goal of this project is to define the material scope of the right, the notions of 'technically feasible', 'interoperable' and others.
